Covering all the angles

Art from every angle will be on display at the Newport Visual Arts Center this Friday, Oct. 13, when it hosts “Varied Perspectives,” the new exhibit from the Yachats Arts Guild.

Friday’s opening reception will run from 4 to 7 pm, offering refreshments and a chance to meet the artists.

The members of Yachats Arts Guild work in a wide variety of mediums — and that is exactly the theme of this new exhibit, which features everything from illustration, glass work and collage to photography, oils, acrylics and more.

Yachats Arts Guild, which began with a meeting of just a few artists in 2007 has blossomed into a group that now boasts more than 40 members. The guild’s members aim to promote and support the arts, provide local artists an opportunity to show and sell their work, expand artistic ability, and enrich the community through the arts.

"Their goals are in excellent alignment with those of the Oregon Coast Council for the Arts," said Newport Visual Arts Center Director Chasse Davidson. "We're excited to showcase the work of these talented local artists, and bring this beautifully eclectic show to Newport's Nye Beach."

“Varied Perspectives” will be on display through November 26, available to view Wednesdays through Sundays, from noon to 4 pm. The Newport Visual Arts Center is located at 777 NW Beach Drive.
